Fuselage panel

Demonstrator 1 is an airliner fuselage panel, which has a double curvature. Airbus headed the development, design and construction of this demonstrator, which was completed in 2013. Its innovative technology features include the press-forming, welding and co-consolidating of stiffeners.

Characteristics of the panel are:

• New thermoplastic material
• Welded omega stiffener
• Butt-joint T-stiffeners
• Double curvature

Further development of fuselage technology in thermoplastic material (from TRL3 to TLR4) will result in new demonstrators within the TAPAS2 project.
