Robots – the affordable alternative?
A recently completed first stage of trials at Fokker Aerostructures in Hoogeveen, The Netherlands, has seen further development of the common industrial robot as an alternative option for the production of structural carbon fibre thermoplastic products with a novel new design. Simon Lott reports.

TenCate Advanced Composites breidt zijn bestaande gamma van luchtvaart PPS en PEI gebaseerd versterkte kunststoflaminaten met producten op basis van PEEK.
Fokker Aerostructures bestelt grote fiber placement machine
Fokker Aerostructures heeft een grote machine voor het plaatsen van vezels besteld bij automatiseringsspecialist Boikon uit Nederland. In de machine wordt de technologie van Fokker Aerostructures voor ultrasone vezelplaatsing geïntegreerd. De machine zal worden gebruikt om de thermoplastische composiethuid van de torsiedoos te beleggen. Het zeven meter brede huidveld zal vanaf eind 2010 worden belegd.
KVE Composites Group ontwikkelt nieuw prototype lasopstelling
KVE Composites Group heeft z’n eerste prototype inductielasgereedschap voltooid voor het lassen van grote gekromde producten. In plaats van een kostbare mal die het hele product omvat, is hier sprake van een kleiner en kosten-effectiever systeem waarbij een robot het systeem telkens verplaatst.
